Common Misconceptions Of Modular Homes
If you are considering investing in a new home, you might consider modular homes.  Modular homes are rapidly gaining in popularity.  Built of the highest quality materials, consumers are starting to recognize the benefits modular homes have to offer.

Modular homes are often as good if not better than traditionally built homes. Unfortunately modular homes often get a bad rap, especially because people don’t have a clear understanding of what modular homes are and what the benefits of owning a modular home are.

Here are some common misconceptions people have of modular homes:

  • All modular homes look the same.  This is false.  Most modular homes are in fact unique and different.

  • You can distinguish a modular home from a site built home.  This is also false.  Many people have a difficult time distinguishing modular homes from site built homes once in place.  Most designers draw plans to meet exact specifications, and homeowners to suit their individual needs often vary even common designs.

  •  Banks won’t finance a modular home.  Again, this statement is false.  Most banks will finance a modular home.  A modular home offers all the benefits and quality that a traditional home would.  In fact many mortgage brokers are eager to finance a modular home in just the same way they would a site built one.

  • Modular homes are lower quality homes.  This is simply not true today.  The modular home industry is suffering from a public relations problem due to the early history on beginnings of modular and pre-fabricated contruction that actually was lower in quality overall.  Today, a modern modular home design is 30 - 40% more sturdy than a traditional site built home, is more energy efficient, and in built within a controlled environment which makes it less likely to have mold and mildew issues in the future.

  • There is limited design selection. Again false.  When you purchase a modular home there are thousands of designs to review.  It is expected that homeowners will also make modifications to these designs to customize their home to suit their tastes, style and budget.  The beauty of modular homes is that you can bring almost any design to your residential lot (unlike buying a home in a "cookie-cutter" subdivision development)

With a little research and infomation many new home buyers are switched their buying decision to exclusively select the modular home format due to range of benefits and selection options available.
